Pet Names

PET NAMES
(No... not for me!!)

Right, those who have me on MSN would be able to see a picture of my pet lobster... some details about the breed...

Cherax Quadricarinatus aka "The Redclaw Crayfish" or also know as "Tropical Blue lobster" originates from North Queensland, Australia. It is perhaps the only truely, tropical freshwater crayfish discovered as far.
Redclaws make beautiful aquarium pets with their flawlessly smooth, brilliant bluish-green shell that is dappled with soft beige spots and ornamented with striking orange stripes.
Redclaws have an average lifespan of 3 to 5 years and have been known to survive past 5 years with proper care and understanding.
Every Redclaw has their own unique markings on their shell which means no two Redclaws have the same type of markings. Larger Redclaws tend to have more colourful shells.
Perhaps the best feature of keeping a Redclaw as a pet is that it requires little to almost no special maintenance.

Other Interesting info
- In 2003 they are valued at US$8.81/KG
- 8 countries cultivate it commercially (Australia, Argentina, Ecuador, Mauritio, Mexico, Samoa, Swaziland and Uraguay).
- Grows to 20 cm/8 inches in 20-25 Celsius.

So... I started keeping these kritters since the begining of this year. Sadly, 3 have died since... the first... got to almost 3 inches before it did a Houdini and dried up under a cupboard. The other 2 were juveniles that died of unknown reasons.

The 2 I have now are kept together in a 2 feet tank with Rocks and Bricks for hiding spaces... the bigger one (recently named LOBBY) is king of the tank... while the smaller guy hides most of the time. I have requested for names for the smaller lobster.

I will be collecting suggestions until 5th August. There after would be a voting exercise... hahaha... Here are some of the suggestions I have already received... Click on the i and c under picture postcards to see the photos.

For WEB

YOUR WILL BE DONE.

Yes another one about relationships...

In starting this BLOG I sought not to expose myself on the WWW anymore than what God had taught me in my life, nothing personal. As I type these words now, I wonder to myself why do I bother? I could to limit the "funny stares" that I may get... But I hope that what God had taught me along the way, would be in turn, used to teach you.

Firstly,
My shame had been crucified with Christ on the cross.
Secondly,
My weakness is God's strength.
Thirdly,
I will become even more undignified than this in my worship of the Most High God.

So here goes the story of Jason's "Love Life"...

To the WEB,
I will tell you what I went through in my own life in regards to relationships.

When I was 16, I made a pledge with the rest of the Benjamites (ancestors of WEB) to remain single for a period of time. Until that time comes, we would devote ourselves to seeking and serving God. IT WAS A TOUGH TIME. I had many people whom I liked, but I purposed myself to just let go and to keep my promise to God.

I fell, I broke the promise and got together with my Ex, I was 18. Though I rationalised my way out of guilt, my heart knows that I am living a lie. That ultimately, I lied and disobeyed God. Though my leaders, Keum Ray and Shu Hui (who were attached and now married with 1 child) adviced me against the relationship, I told them that I know what I was doing (I honestly thought I know).

The relationship was draining emotionally and spiritually. We never got around to even praying together... not to mention Bible Study. Spiritually we were not on track with God. Problems surfaced and my Ex threatened repeatedly to break up with me, but I gave in and I purposed myself to make things work out. After 1 1/2 years, I gave up, I was emotionally spent. We broke up.

After the I broke up with her, I made her a promise to remain single for one year to show her that I was serious about the relationship. Alas, I failed in keeping this pledge just 1 month into making it, I was then 19.

Now, many years later, I ponder about that episode in my life. To reflect upon why I made that promise and what did I really want to prove?

I have one heart and only one devotion. I realised that the persons struggling for my heart was not my ex-girlfriend nor any other woman. But I was the one struggling for control of a lost and floundering heart, while God was also asking me to just let go, to let HIM take over.

sMonSter says: Regarding Wounds
"Thousands of little cuts and even some bigger ones will never kill you as the wound will heal fast enough with the right treatment and dressing."

I suffered many cuts, self inflicted or otherwise before the break-up, I never gave time for the wounds (physical, emotional, relational and spiritual) to heal while in the relationship. The 3 months that followed the breakup allowed for some healing. Just as the wounds were getting healed, I took over again and patched things up with her.

Major infection followed as new and bigger wounds were drawn upon old ones which were already being left to dis-regard... eeee... (ouch)

Have you ever gone back to a place in your childhood where you grew up with wonderful memories of peace, joy and beauty. Only to find mutilation, destruction and ugliness had taken its place?

I knew then, seeing myself that I needed to return unto the Lord. Finally, having ended the relationship, I sought the Healer...

Do you not realise those scars Christ bore while on His way and while on the cross was the summation of all of ours?
Do you not recognise that scar through His side and into His heart?
Do you not know that these scars have been healed?
Do you now see, that His risen life had renewed yours?

sMonSter says: Regarding The Jesus Generation
"Its not about what you purpose to do that proves anything,
Its about the prove of the purpose of Him who did everything.
That purpose is His love."

My Dear WEBs, who would you choose to give your heart today?
Cos where your heart is, there your treasure would be.

F.A.T

F.A.T
Food Appreciation Team.

TO a bunch of WEBs (YPM)... This name would be synonymous with Fun, Fellowship and Food. Here is a bit of history in regards to this interesting little group of "Pemakan".

Started with my dear brother Mark (Lim) when we decided that we were too selfish having all the fun eating and sampling all the great stuff during our gastronomic adventures. We began to realise how some of these great and interesting food we had were either beyond the means or just beyond the imagination of some of the folks in WEB.

We decided to expose some of them to opportunities (for food) that they might never have if not given the chance.

So certain outlines for F.A.T were laid down:
(1.) Its a monthly event.
(2.) Attendance is by invitation only (Invited by Chairperson).
(3.) The following criteria for invitation had been given to the Chairperson.
i. Have not been to said location before.
ii. Would not know about said location if not introduced.
iii. Family would not have visited said location.
iv. Family would not have normally been able to afford said location.
(4.) There would be a limit to the amount of money that the youths would have to pay (current cap is $10).
(5.) The balance of the bill would be paid for by Mark, myself and any other WORKING adult who should choose to join us.
(6.) Chairperson can only give a maximum of 10 invitations (Due to clause 4).

There were some struggles initially, but the meals went on and the fellowship flowed. Personally, its a token of returning what had been given to me and an opportunity to BLESS, spend time with these young ones who had joined us for F.A.T.

In writing this entry. I hope that my dear Chairperson would be encouraged to continue in his great job at organising these events. It would also act as a BLACK and WHITE for the purposes and reasons for F.A.T.

As youth leaders, its our desire and prayer that the lives we live before the Lord would set the pace for the lives that run after us. That the blessings given to us would continue to flow from our lives and multiplied through those we bless.

"Lord let it be as a simple Mountain Stream that grows into a Rushing River"
